ESSENTIAL ECONOMICS

The purpose of the Essential Economics for Senior Policy Makers is to prepare participants to participate more effectively in important public policy debates in their and to analyze economic aspects of various policy decisions. It will provide participants with essential tools of economic analysis and train them to use them appropriately. The goal of the workshop is not to provide ready-made answers (cook-book recipes) to key economic issues. Rather the workshop will seek to train workshop participants to raise pertinent questions and seek answers following the logic of economics. That is, the workshop will train participants to think like an economist. The workshop is designed for decision makers in public and private sector who do not have time for a lengthy course on applied economics.

In addition, workshop participants will be provided with a wealth of reference materials and knowledge resources that will allow them to develop and nurture their interest in economic analysis long after they have participated in this workshop.
